Turqois bliss

I do apologize for forgetting to post "before" pictures but I have remembered with my most recent pieces. Plus, I found a consignment/used furniture showroom in town that is interested in "hiring" me to re-do some pieces because they always have people come in and ask for "antiqued/distressed/repainted" pieces. I could get used to this, but I still have to remember to take it one piece at a time - start to finish. My next big project is Calder's bed frame, bookshelf and dresser. The requested colors - black and red. What?

Furniture

Look what I learned how to do! It is a lot more involved that one would think. There's stripping, priming, sanding, painting, distressing, glazing and sealing. Plus you have the hard task of choosing which colors of paint to use and what knobs to switch. I am going crazy now and wanting to re-do everything we have and Jeff says it's okay as long as I don't buy new furniture to re-do unless I sell old stuff - which this little cutie is going to do. Look back every once in a while and I'll post pictures of my other furniture makeovers that are nearly done.
Believe me, this is super cute now compared to the yellow and brown it used to be!

I am learning new techniques and experimenting with all of our furniture in our new apartment! Yes, that is right. We moved into our own apartment finally! It is a little closer to town and we have awesome neighbors (that we already knew from church) and we walk to school everyday. It is half underground/basement and is basically new with all of the remodeling and we are loving it.

Photos w/o the flash...a new experience

We went to a candlelight tour of Fort Vancouver one night, since Jeff hasn't ever been here. We will go back soon when it isn't dark and rainy so Jeff can learn more. I'm not taking classes anymore so I will just be doing self-taught projects from now on. Life is never predictable.

New items

I am trying to make more of a portfolio and show what I have done, even if it isn't a lot. So here are some past school assignments. I think I like simplicity more than a lot of things going on in an image. Maybe it's just because I'm a novice. Enjoy!
This was to create a logo designing with type for a gourmet food market.
This was for a business logo for a pet grooming/boarding place.

This was to show how different typefaces/fonts show what the business is about through the design of the logo. Starting from the top left going clockwise: a law firm, a day spa, a clothing store, an Italian restaurant, and a daycare center.

Digital Illustration

Ok, so most of my extra time lately has gone towards things that are good, but not necessarily creative. So for my class this session I am taking Digital Illustration. I love it and am learning a ton; even though this is the second I have taken it. I wish the class was longer and we could learn how to do even more with Illustrator because I feel like I can do things more quickly and what I am envisioning it to look like. I still have a lot to learn and get better at but this is an assignment that I think is/was pretty fun. It started with a product design (the theme was toys) and then a logo design and then choosing what you wanted and now creating an add. So, here is my assignment for school for y'all to enjoy. And yes, I have seen the "How to Train Your Dragon" movie, it was my inspiration.

Something I'm working on

Well, I know this blog is inconsistent but I have been working on some things for my father in-law and his side/retirement business. I started a blog is you want to check it out, but it is still a work in progress: kingvallybuffalo.blogspot.com
Oh, here is a sample business card I was playing around with too. I think it might be too busy for a business card, but it's a start!
